So you have an stye and are looking for the best form of eye stye treatment. To begin with, do not worry. Eye styes can seem scary at first however i guarantee that they are not only common, but are often pretty simple to deal with knowing what to do. Therefore I make the five golden rules for eye stye treatment. With this particular advice you can't only treat your skills styes, but dramatically shorten their healing some time and even prevent them from occurring in the future.

RULE 1: START In your own home TREATMENT EARLY

Eye styes often begin with similar characteristics and clinical signs. If you've had them enough guess what happens i'm talking about. Often they start with a pinpoint sensation in the stye site and it can even being explained some as a tingling sensation. Sometimes people get headaches too, while some are afflicted by eye strain. When you initially obtain the stye, immediately begin using warm compresses many times a day. This technique works extremely well and can make the difference in how long the stye lasts and just how severe it's.

RULE 2: DO NOT TRY TO POP THE STYE

This might seem like good sense for many, but you will be surprised by how many people actually attempt to pop the stye just like a pimple. Its not a pimple people! A stye is an infection from the glands at the lower eyelid and by popping it, it is possible to do more damage then good. The stye may become even more infected and you will even spread the problem with other areas of your body. While using warm compress will accomplish the same goal of opening the stye as much as drain with no trauma induced by popping it.

RULE 3: PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE

Remember your mother always telling you to wash both hands? She wasn't doing this for her own good. Her advice is really one of the best ways to prevent styes and even other diseases in general. Styes are often the result of a bacteria that is commonly located on the skin. It may often be spread towards the eye on your hands so washing both hands is very important. Make sure to wash your hands before and after touching your skills to minimize the transfer of bacteria. These general hygiene practices aren't just limited to hand washing though. Be sure to wash your face having a non-irritating facial wash or scrub. Also, should you wear eye shadows, be sure to thoroughly take it off, as makeup can easily cause styes to create.

RULE 4: USE OVER-THE-COUNTER PRODUCTS As needed

There are lots of eye stye treatment products available which are efficient at soothing the eye, cleansing the eyelids, and disinfecting the stye. A number of these products can be bought over-the-counter and most are fairly inexpensive. Products for example stye ointments or drops are wonderful at providing pain alleviation due to the stye and also have an antibacterial function. Eyelid scrubs and cleansers are perfect for cleaning around the eye. As always, check the product label for instructions regarding how to use these products most effectively.

RULE 5: When the STYE DOESN'T Disappear OR Worsens THEN GET TO A DOCTOR

Sometimes no matter what you do in your own home, the stye just won't disappear or actually begins to worsen. This could be an indication of the worse infection that needs the attention of the doctor. A doctor will most likely prescribe an antibiotic drop or ointment to combat the infection. In serious cases the stye may need to be lanced by an ophthalmologist as well as surgically removed. When determining how long to hang about until visiting a doctor, there is no strict time table. Instead, allow you to common sense guide you and always seek professional treatment sooner instead of later. However, it is important to note that these styes can sometimes take too much time (up to a couple weeks) disappear completely. (More)
